Boite à calligraphie (suzuribako) laquée rouge foncé et à bords arrondis. Avec des motifs de fougères, de plantes-lanternes physalis (h?zuki), de pins et de feuilles d’aracée (kuwai) en laque maki-e dorée et argentée agrémentée de nacre incrusté. L’intérieur du couvercle est décoré de plantes sous-marines en laque maki-e dorée agrémentée d’argent sur un fond laqué noir. La boite contient un récipient à eau semi-triangulaire, une pierre à encre et un petit fourreau contenant deux pinceaux. Dans sa boite d’origine signée : Tokusai, Kyoto. Période Showa. H. : env. 5 cm; 24,2 x 21,2 cm. Dark red lacquered writing box (suzuribako) with rounded corners and decorated with ferns, Chinese lantern plant (h?zuki), sprays of pine tree and arrowhead leaves (kuwai) in gold- and silver maki-e lacquer with some mother-of-pearl inlay work. The lid has at the inside a design of seagrass in gold maki-e lacquer with some silver on a black lacquered background. The box contains a semi-triangular water dropper, an ink stone and a small bag with two brushes. In original box signed: Tokusai, Kyoto. Showa Period.
