Garni de cuir laqué rouge et renforcé de ferrures, trois de ses cotés sont décorés d'un emblème familial doré figurant un éventail uchiwa contre un cercle avec deux rayons (maru ni uchi ni futatsubiki no uchiwa mon). Une inscription dans un cadre laqué noir figure sur un autre côté: Armure (gusoku) de Koesashi Ryugoro de la ville de Morioka (Préfecture d'Iwate). Cette personne était responsable des armes (bugu bugyo) des shoguns à l'époque de la fin du shogunat. Période Bakumatsu.
