Statue en bois de keyaki (zelkova) représentant Bodhisattva Jiz? (Ksitigarbha) droitement assis et avec les jambes croisées. Le personnage tient à la main une personne et un bâton avec six anneaux (shakuj?), symbole des six perfections d’un bodhisattva (paramita). La figurine est placée sur un socle rectangulaire devant une auréole de bois garni de trois perles cintanami. Le socle est incrusté d’une pièce de bois séparée figurant des prières destinées à protéger contre la maladie, à assurer la prospérité en affaire et à se libérer de toute difficulté. Période Meiji – Taisho. Jiz?: H. : 66 cm. Plinth: 28,5 x 36,5 cm. Keyaki (zelkova) wooden bodhisattva Jiz? (Ksitigarbha) sitting upright with one leg resting on the other. In his hands he holds a pearl and a staff with six rings (shakuj?) symbolising the six perfections of a bodhisattva (paramita). The figure is placed on a rectangular plinth in front of a wooden halo-circle with three cintanami-pearls. The plinth is inlayed with a separate piece of wood that has a carved prayer for protection against illness, for prosperity in business and being free of all difficulties. Meiji – Taisho period.
