Rare et élégante peinture polychrome anonyme sur rouleau (kakejiku) figurant la déesse bouddhiste de la bonne fortune et de la beauté Kichijoten (Sanskrit: Laksmi). Elle porte dans une de ses mains trois perles ayant le don d'accorder les v?ux (mani). De l'autre main, elle fait le geste du don. D'après la boite (double), l'objet est attribué à Tosa Mitsunobu (environ 1434-1525). La peinture a été remontée. Le nom de la déesse Benaiten est mentionné sur la boite. Benaiten, est souvent assimilée à Kichijoten (Daibenzaiten) et sa représentation ainsi que ses attributs ont largement supplanté ceux de Kichijoten à partir du XVème et XVIème siècle. H.: 176 cm, l.: 59 cm Rare hanging scroll (kakejiku) with an anonymous polychrome elegant painting depicting the Buddhist goddess of good fortune and beauty Kichijoten (Sanskrite: Laksmi) with in one hand three wish-fulfilling pearls (mani) and the other hand in the giving gesture, attributed according the (double) box to Tosa Mitsunobu (c. 1434-1525). Remounted. (The box calls the figure Benzaiten, the goddess whose imagery and attributes have largely supplanted those of Kichijoten since the 15th/16th century. Benzaiten is often regarded as a form of Kichijoten (Daibenzaiten).
