Sabre japonais (katana) avec sa monture assemblée, employée quand la lame du sabre est portée par son propriétaire (uchigata koshirae). Le fourreau (saya) est laqué brun-rouge pâle et se termine par un kojiri (équipement de protection au bout du fourreau). Le fourreau possède un sagao (le cordon utilisé pour attacher le fourreau à la ceinture). La lame légèrement incurvée du sabre contient une ligne à peine visible (suguha) sur le côté tranchant. Une simple tsuba (protection pour la main); le fuchi (collier) est orné d'un animal doré en relief. Le collier présente un motif de peau de raie (samehada) et un menuki en métal de chaque côté du collier est couvert d'une cordelette attachée. Le menuki ne couvre pas le menugi (la cheville qui sécurise la poignée du manche du sabre). La kashira (pommeau) présente un relief doré figurant un oiseau au-dessus des vagues. Le sabre est présenté dans un étui de brocart avec un pompon. L.: 103,5 cm; Lame: 66,5 cm. The scabbard (saya) is light red-brown lacquered and ends in a metal kojiri (the protective fitting at the end of the scabbard). The scabbard has a black sagao (the cord used to tie the scabbard to the belt). The slightly curved blade of the sword has a straight hardly noticeable line (suguha) on the sharp edge. A plain tsuba (hand guard); the fuchi (hilt collar) is decorated with gilded animal relief. The hilt with ray skin pattern (samehada) and a metal menuki at both sides of the hilt is covered by a bound cord. The menuki does not cover the menugi (the peg for securing the hilt to the handle of the sword). The kashira (pommel) has a gilded relief depicting a bird above the waves. The sword comes in a brocate cover with a tassel.
